Living Life Artistically
Essays and Art
by Giorgio Dimichina
When trying to establish oneself in the creative field, it is easy to become anxious or impatient about having an opportunity to show others what we are able to do.
Even so, there is a reality to everything having its proper time and all good things establishing themselves within the natural rhythm of life, if we allow ourselves time to develop how best to represent ourselves and our work, while at the same time enjoying the process of mastering our skill.
Take Kyle for example…
When Kyle became a little too eager in wanting to show others his unique talent…
Instead of feeling the joy that comes from being admired for his skills and abilities, he just felt the cold reality that talent, without the appropriate presentation, will chill the desired effect.
Remember presentation is an extension of our talent and it is vital in letting others get a better picture of who we are. I have come to understand that in many cases an individual makes a connection with an artist by getting a better feeling about what the artist is passionate about. If they like how the artist presents him or herself and their work, they are more appreciative of their talent.
Unfortunately, the cold reality is that most people think of artists in one of two ways. Artists are either thought of as talented creative professionals who are admired and collected or they are thought of as dreamers with little hope of being successful.
Establishing oneself in the best light possible when it comes to one’s talent, attitude, confidence, professionalism, approachability and the sensitivity one displays within a spirit of humility and gratitude, can be the greatest determining factor when it comes to a person’s ultimate success, whether in their career or their personal life.
The way we present ourselves and make others feel is monumental when it comes to what we will establish for ourselves, good or bad.
There is a reason companies and corporations will spend millions on creating the right packaging for their products. It’s because it makes a huge difference in its appeal. When we package ourselves and our talent in the best light possible, it has the same effect, we become significantly more appealing to others, which as a byproduct grants us more respectability.
In general, artists take great care and devote a lot of time in developing their artwork in hopes of attracting the attention of others, but may spend little to no time devoted to creating an image for themselves that is just as powerful and appealing. Just like icing can be the finishing touch on a cake or the perfect frame can enhance the overall look of a painting, taking the time to develop who you want to be in life and how you want to be perceived, is just as important in putting the finishing touches on your overall appeal. Interesting enough, this holds true in all aspects of life.
It definitely will make a difference, there is no negative down side in doing so and whether you are trying to make a living as an artist or you are trying to improve your life in general, it very well has the potential of bringing more joy, peace and prosperity into your life.
Approach life with passion, gratitude, joy and a loving, forgiving, kind and giving heart and the world will radiate towards you.
