 The Blank Canvas

by Giorgio Dimichina

The blank canvas, seemingly a simple piece of cloth stretched over a wooden frame, yet it holds within its borders unlimited possibilities. It is a vessel, which in the hands of a skilled artist, can impart emotions that go beyond actual time and space, transporting the viewer as though in a time machine to a past memory or a future hope.

Within the unrestrained possibilities of a blank canvas, the artist lays down his legacy and a record of the gift he leaves the world.

A blank canvas and all its possibilities, is not only restricted to material cloth. Its magic can live within a block of stone, a clump of clay, through the vision of a camera lens, through the orchestration of individual notes of music, through colorful words on paper or through the culinary ability to infuse aromatic flavors into a fine meal. Any medium man can devise, holds the opportunity to unleash a blessing onto others.

The ability to create is something that lives within all of us. Whether we are creating artwork or a new beginning for ourselves in order to move forward in life, creativity at its most powerful has the ability to uplift and renew humanity.

The true gift is not simply in the ability to create, but in the ability to have what is created bless others.
