Venetian Afternoon

Venetian Afternoon By Giorgio

The inspiration for my painting “Venetian Afternoon” is the romance and mystery of Venice. It is a magical place of passion and hidden treasures, where one can still find artisans masterfully holding onto traditions that have been passed down for centuries. It is an enchanting place, where the late afternoon sun illuminates the warm amber tones of medieval walls as though inviting you to explore the labyrinth of walkways and canals throughout the city.

As an artist, it is the overwhelming history and romance of Venice that drives my passion in wanting to paint a series depicting this enchanting place. There is a palpable beat to Venice one can feel. It holds a history within its canals and corridors that are both captivating and inviting. In the still moments of the night, one can almost hear echoes of the renaissance bouncing off the ancient canal walls.

Venice is a romantic inspirational city that holds much more than an array of beautiful sights. It is a city that is able to instill feelings in one that not only lingers, but also enriches the soul.

I have found that the greatest blessings are not found in what one sees, but in what one feels.

My desire is to capture within each of my paintings, a romantic, impressionistic realism that is somewhere between reality and a dream. I hope that each of my paintings will transport the viewer to a place of joy, peace and reflection.

Arrivederci,
Giorgio

  • I love how the light falls on the buildings. The amazing rendering of the bricks offset by the beautiful blue shadows in the window frames. One can actually feel the warm sun and the heat bouncing of the buildings. It puts me in a relaxed state of mind on this snowy Saturday afternoon. Thank you, Giorgio.
